So this crept up on me one day, and I have a confession to make.
When most blogs hit milestones, they do giveaways. People with spending power give RP. I can’t, because I’m stuck on the distant SEA servers and most of you inhabit, well, everywhere else. People with talent create masterpieces of artwork. I can’t, because I can’t draw. So it occurs to me that I should honour the 275 of you who follow me, but the platforms for me to do so are limited. All I can offer are my literary abilities, the writing of fiction that no doubt you have followed me to see, even if it’s meagre at times and hardly polished.
So, that’s what I’ll give you.
In December, the community was blessed with Tybresa’s efforts to host a Snowdown celebration. I don’t even know how many participated, but surely it was in the hundreds. I want to see something like that happen. More than that, I want to make it happen. I’ve experimented with a multi-blog event which got derailed due to technical difficulties (read: Tumblr being a butt to Tyb-mun), and I’ve learned a few things from looking back at how Tyby handled the Snowdown. I am nothing if not a fool, and so in my current state of foolhardiness, I want to create something in which the community can participate in. I want to start something in which any and all muses can be involved, no matter who they are, something that I can use to build Renzus’ character and also develop that of each and every one of you who joins me in this mad quest.
I want to start a war.
To me, there exists an awkward status quo in the Tumblrverse with regards to the League. The general accepted headcanons generally refer to a quiet and peaceful era. RP’s are limited to social interactions here and there, building off prompts and what have you. The League itself roosts comfortably in its position of power, where its matches resolve the minor or petty conflicts between nation-states that don’t make headlines. Despite the misgivings that most have towards the Institute of War, none can contest the fact that it is the single greatest gathering of powerful, dangerous and driven individuals to ever grace Runeterra. Therefore, I feel it must be challenged. The taller the monument, the longer the shadow it casts, and surely the power of the League has created enemies. Enemies that, if the current state of affairs is to be believed, are too scattered and isolated to threaten its standing in any meaningful way.
Now suppose I were to take this status quo and throw it out the window.
Something will rise in the shadow of the League, slowly but surely challenging its authority. It will take root like a cancer in the recesses of the world, feeding off what it can, growing unseen until it makes its presence felt in a way that can only be described as painful. It will hate the League of Legends for its control of Valoran, it will covet its power with a lust that cannot be halted. It will not hesitate to deceive, destroy, and murder in order to achieve its goals. Eventually, it will strike at the League itself, and then Valoran will be plunged into conflict. One in which the Institute of War must respond with accordingly, or doom the world it stewards to the clutches of malevolent powers.
Our muses will inevitably be drawn into this. It is inescapable. I will set the scene, create tasks and missions that must be completed, chart the progress of every action and determine how this great war will play out. I want our muses, no matter who they are, to be the spearheads of this war, finding themselves born anew in the trials of conflict. I will give you the freedom to carry out your muses’ actions, to assemble your own multi-blog adventures, or to even simply RP in a new setting. There is no need to consider this hard canon, and can be an AU for any muse who doesn’t want this to be canon, but it will be very real for me. I understand that not all of you might be comfortable with this; some muses may not be very suitable for this sort of thing. Perhaps you might have commitment issues, with real life keeping you away from Tumblr. Maybe some of you don’t want this sort of drastic change to happen to your blog. I understand perfectly.
But understand this. This is my gift to those who follow me. I want to give back the opportunities to write, to feel, to breathe life into our muses in new and exciting ways. Opportunities that the 275 of you have given me in your own ways, whether or not I interact with you on a regular basis. It is my show of gratitude, and I humbly beg for you to accept it.
Now, I am hardly a popular blog. I am grateful for the 275 of you who follow me. But I want this to reach beyond you. I want to reach out to those who have never heard of Renzus. I would deeply appreciate it if you passed this along to your followers, that I might spread the same opportunities, the same roleplay experiences to them. Those among you who ARE popular, do reblog this at least once. It would mean the world to me if you helped me out. More than anything, it would give me the chance to RP with those of you whom I don’t do so. It would give our muses the opportunity to interact that they might not already have.
So spread the word! Let every mun who sees this be given the choice to join, and create their own grand tales. Needless to say, leave your M!A’s at the door, although there’s absolutely no need to drop any ongoing RP’s that you may have. Only do so if you are willing, as I am, to treat this as hard canon. I will take a while to draft a few starters that I will post here, and plan out the general direction of everything, so you can expect it to truly kick off around the start of April.
In conclusion, thank you, the 275 of you who follow me. I am deeply grateful for each of you who decided that I was worth clicking the “follow” button for, so allow me now to repay you in the only way I know how: through writing.
To all the muns: Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. You’re all wonderful people, and deserve lifetime supplies of cookies.
To all the muses: Brace yourself. War is coming.
